Explorer Front Bumper Question

So I bought this bumper at the junkyard with the fog lights yesterday:

I tried to fit it on and the holes do not line up exactly.

has anyone tried to put this style bumper on, and if so any advice??

Bumping this thread because I was thinking of picking up a similar bumper off a 2000 Explorer Sport that happens to already be the same color as my truck.

If it takes a little modding, I'm not worried, but I'm curious if anyone has done this, exactly how much modding did it take?

So I picked up one of these bumpers recently, and yesterday I got to f$&king with it. The two inner mounting bolts line up, but unlike the Ranger, all four are even, so the two outside ones are too high. It can likely be made to work with some slotting, but I ran out of daylight when I was working with it.

The biggest issues with this bumper are that the support hits the bottom of the fender (the non-visible part). I trimmed an inch off and it clears fine now.

Other issues:
The rear edge of the bumper does not have the same curve as the wheel openings in the Ranger fenders. Not a huge deal, but a visual consideration for anyone interested.

The bumper does stick out a little further than the Ranger bumper. Again, just a visual difference.

After I get everything truly fitted with it, I'll take some pics and post them up. Overall I think it looks decent. The one I got was an unpainted gray plastic one with the chrome fog valances. Not what I was looking for, but I got it for nothing, and I can always replace the cover later with the one-piece unit that will be colormatched to the truck.

I just figured I'd post this up in case anyone else might be interested in a different bumper.

Sorry I have been busy and haven't had the chance to finish it where the weather cooperated. I want to get it done because I modded some HID bulbs for the fogs (there are no bulbs available due to the special holder they use.)...I'm happy with the results. They have a nice cutoff line and project well.

Understandable. Get a pic as soon as you can though just because I'm interested in it.

OK, so I screwed around with this a little more. Turns out I need to cut a little bit out of the bracket on the bumper, but I got it fit up closer. Now I'm not sure I like the fit. The grill relief in the middle isn't as deep as the Ranger one, so it doesn't get up close enough to the turn signals for my taste. But anyway, here are the pics. It's sitting at an angle because I haven't cut out the part of the bracket to clear the end of the frame rail yet, but you get the idea of how it actually looks.

looks kinda like a gen 4 with an 01-03 bumper. It looks good but I see what you're saying about the gap. little more tweaking!

you could get the plastic piece from the newer gens that goes below the headlight and use it as a filler?

thats integrated into the header panel. you'd have to find one and cut it off of the header panel

I'm not feeling it man. If that center part under the grill was deeper, maybe but I just can't get a feel for it.

Btw, you still offering coil kits?

That's exactly my issue. It looked like it was going to match better until I actually got it on.

Yes, but I don't currently have any in stock. I may do another run of them, because I've had a couple of inquiries.
