Doc, try the faucet washers, it sure fixed mine, what happens is the rubber bushings get thin and when you add a 3/16 faucet washer it takes out all the slack.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I can't find anything on here or through Google on the rattle issue that I am having. It is coming from the driver's door in the top back corner area. It will rattle really loud when driving, when I shut the door with enough force for it to actually shut, and even if I hold the door open and bump the back side of the door with the heel of my hand, HOWEVER it won't do it with the window down. I took the door panel off, and it doesn't seem that there is any way to get inside that area...any ideas?

My passenger door was rattling a while a go. I did the swap of the bumpers and that didn't work. I simply loosened the black latch bolts I think they were a torq ** something size. Then slide the latch until the door made a solid firm closure. No more rattle EVER. Depending on how you adjust the latch you will make the door either closer or looser on the latch. TOO tight and you will not be able to open the door without a bit of force. Too loose and it wobbles. Over time things move and shift and I found that the latch is really the best way of "closing" the door rather than having one side tight and the top side not so much which creates wind noise as earlier noted.

I'm glad this thread got bumped. I really have to do this to my 98.

Google brought me to this thread. My passanger door rattled like an SOB when going over any significant bump. I even replaced most of the suspension (because it needed it, not to fix the door rattle) but no that didn't help. I was about the go out and buy bumpers until I read your post. Moved the latch inward about a quarter inch and it worked like a charm. There are some railroad tracks that I cross everyday on the way work that would always make it rattle...not anymore!!

Thanks for the tip!
