Door handle problems

Hi everyone, I have a real sweet 92 ranger, but the doors are not fully latching. I have ordered new clips for the rods and I am planning to install those soon. My question here is are there springs that can be applied so that the doorhandles close. Or, is this just a gravity thing?

Not sure about your particular year, but most door handle mechanisms I have worked on had springs that returned the handle to its closed / retracted position. Pull one out and give it a really good look over. It is possible the thing is simply goo'ed up with old, dried up grease and it won't return on its own A good cleaning with solvent or even some gasoline may bring it back to life. Be sure to re-grease the moving parts after cleaning, though.

Update. Installed two new door strikers. Had to tap gently with hammer until proper closure was achieved. My 92 has springs in handle, so new handles from Dorman solved that. Rods and clips fine. Doors close tight now, no chatter, mirror wobble or squeaks. Sweet!
