Does Anyone Know Specifics About Paint Codes
ok guys as some of you may know I have the solid black xl bumper and I was painting the top portion white to match my truck and to give it the xlt and fx4 upgraded style.
Well long story short, I dont know if it was my fault, or the paint place, or both of our faults but they ended up giving me the wrong white. Instead of oxford, they gave me ceramic. Acourse I didnt realize this until it was already sprayed. I guess next time I need to double check better, but I told thme exactly what I have so I dont know why they would mix a ceramic. The paint code F6 isn't even an option on your trucks, and I even said just regular oxford work truck white, but whatever.
My question is, is the base coats for the 2 different colors that different? Specifically for the 3 stage paints, we have a base coat, than a top coat to give it its finish. Im going to just sand off the clear, scuff up the ceramic white and reshoot it, but was curious if paying for the base coat again would be worth it. The bumper is already a white color now, so I assumed it really won't make a difference when the top coat is applied.
I know this is pretty specific and not alot are going to have this kind of info, but just curious. Thanks
