defective 2006 grille emblems

Hey guys,

My 2006 emblem in my grille finally went out. I've seen dozens of the 2006 9" grille emblems do this. Our 2006 F-150 done the same thing. Has this happened to anyone else on here, and if so did you say anything to Ford about it?

The clear covering on mine is starting to peel and it looks terrible. Is this what you are talking about?

hm looks a lot different than when you got it from me!

I replaced mine on my tailgate, it had done that before i got it. got the replacement at the dealer for like $25.

I'm thinking you could use a nice new set of buggman emblems though!

Happened to my Dad's '06 F-150. No idea why though, and our Ford dealership here blows, so we've never addressed it with them.

Happened on my '06 F150 and is also happening on my '05 F250. Both were out of the warranty period when I bought them so no reason to address the issue with Ford.

Yup mine is doing the same thing. I bought a replacement OEM one on ebay for the tailgate already...
I may go to the dealer and see what they say about it seeing as my warrantee is almost up...

Mine did the same and I had Ford replace it under the warranty.

Yeah, It does look a lot different than when I got it from you. It had a tiny little circle in the middle and then it just went all at once right after we got that big rain.
I've already taken my 2008 grille out of my black truck and put it in the blue one. I've removed the emblem and I'm going to mail it off to Ford with a nice letter.
I might need to get the VIN # from your truck. It's obvious that this is a factory defect and Ford should take responsibility for it. There's already two people fighting over the 9" emblem that STXRangerDanger is selling ... lol
I have a 04/05 4X4 honey comb grille that just needs the chrome surround. I'm thinking about getting a new chrome piece and putting that grille in my black truck.
btw ... these emblems are made in Italy.

I have a good condition 9" emblem from my Edge. It just has tiny rock chips. It should work on a Ranger. If you are interested you could take a picture of the mounts so I could verify it would work.

Atleast y'all still have a Ford dealership. Ours went belly-up a couple of years ago. Our town has had a Ford dealer since the 30's I think. Have to drive about 45 minutes to the nearest one in Durham.

Thanks for the offer KLC but Kyle is selling me his whole 04/05 4X4 grille for $50.
I'm just afraid to go back with another 06+ XLT grille

I just swapped out my 06 grill for a 04-05. I couldn't see buying a new 9" emblem that's going to do the same thing again. The one on my tailgate is still like new.

Exactly ... The 04-05 4X4 grille might look different with a 06 + front bumper, but I think it'll look good.

I've seen dozens of ranger, 150s, superdutys, edge and as new as the fiesta all come in with this issue. its covered under warranty. just take it to your dealer and have them replace it.

My 06 F150s still look new, front and rear. My front is only like 2 years old but my stocker is on my buddies truck and still looks new.

I've seen the issue on a lot of other ones though, must have just gotten lucky.

Once the clearcoat gets a little chip in it, its just a matter of time before the water gets into it. What did mine in was all the snow and ice we had this past winter.

What is the mileage limit for autobody coverage? I may check into this also, my 2008 gate emblem is pretty bare
