Beginner 2005 mods... Silver 4x4.... Advice!

I am looking to clean up the look of my truck. It is a 2005 in Silver, Extended cab, 4x4 that is stock. I have a tonneau cover, and black nerf bars, thats about it.

What are some cheap beginner mods I can do to this truck to make it look better?

Also, I have chipping on my front hood, What do you guys think this would cost to have fixed/resprayed at a autobody shop? What is a reasonable price to pay for such a thing? I do not know much about paint except I probably will never get involved with it, I don't have that kind of attention span to be so neat and clean.

Pics of other silver trucks with mods would be excellent!

I'm sticking with the stock tire size, I'm trying to keep my mileage around the same it is now. I actually have a brand new set of BFGoodrich mud terrain KM's going on it wednesday morning. in the 255/70/R16's. They should look a bit better than my rounded over destoryed RT/S's with 65k miles on them.

I'm going to crank the bars today if I get around to it about 1.5 inches to level it out a bit. Think 1.5" will be good? (I think the front is at like 33" and the back is 36".... I don't think I want to crank them too much... otherwise the front end parts will wear quickly right?)

ShadowRanger, I'm not a fan of the silver I like your color so much more... but this one was 15,900 new I really didn't have a choice of color, they had like 50 silvers, then a red, and a blue. I like your color and black much more, but haha not 6-7,000 more :)

Anyone have a pic of a silver ranger with the 06+ corners and tails?

if you crank your tbars make sure you get a front end alignment after so your new tires dont wear bad

Im going to crank them, then get my new tires mounted, balanced, and an alignment... I figure that would be the smartest way.

Me personally, I'd look into swapping on a 06+ chrome grille. I'd cancel that order for 255/70's and bump it up to 265/75R16. I think your truck is BEGGIN for 06+ corner lenses.

You don't necessarily only need silver truck pics....most if not all ideas from any 98+ 4x4 can apply to you. There's a ton of interior small stuff that make a big difference too. Such as Explorer buckets and console, installing a 3 bulb dome light for map lights, installing a 03 and older third brake light so you can have cargo lights.

Here's my buddy Trevor's '01 Silver Frost. His screenname here is TrePaul86 and he's whored it out LOTS here. lol.

whats the differance between the 05 and 06 corners.. or is it that mine are **** yellow and the 06 are clear?.... and head lights... I don't see it..? I see the differance with the tail lights those are much nicer, not so old of a style.

sorry fx4wannabe01... I already have the tires, I wish I did get 1 size larger... but i had so many mechanical problems that it was out of my budget and inspection is this month...(I got these ones shipped new to me for 525)... I couldn't say no... and I just finished up the other problems this week!

I'm definitally going to crank the bars today, i'm doing plugs and wires right now.

'06 corners....are half clear, half '**** yellow'. lol. They can be purchased brand new aftermarket for about $25 per side I want to say. Certifit.com and Lmctruck.com carries them.

The last couple pics I posted above are aftermarket eBay clear corners. For some reason, I just don't like how they look...probably because Trevor's truck is so silver, it needs some color somewhere.

Those are alright, kind of strange looking... hum... I sorta like the clear ones, but I know what you mean... too silver. I think the black painted back lights, like those euro lights on ebay.

I just am looking for a cleaner look. I kind of want the 06+ emblems....

Now that you mention it...

Here's those 06 corners, but customized with painted headlights like what's on ebay...

lol. okay..I'll stop. lol.

I know...they're not for everybody. Your truck in my eyes, can rock whatever corner you choose and it'll look good. Just to me, my friends being all silver and chrome everything. Needs something to break up the color.

Best piece of advice I can give is take a look a look at other members trucks and what they've done. Figure out what you like and what you want the truck to be, pick a build direction. I picked one years ago and stuck with it: Dark and menacing. Started off with me doing the mods my 'idols' did, then put my own twist on it and it's all it's own.

Does the 06 grill fit on the 05? I Think that is what i want. When I saw the 06, I really liked it except it was lower than my 05... and thats what I liked about my 05

Torsion Bar cranking... I'm going to get on it tonight.... How far should I go? What is the suggested max? I'm not looking for a stupidly bumpy ride, or quick wearing parts...

I think I went 3 or 4 full turns when I had torsion bars, but you could go a little more. Torsion bars make for a bumpy ride period though. Convert to coilover's if a good ride is of concern.
