It is not anywhere near that simple, as there is about 6 inches in front of the axle and six inches after the axle. 6 foot beds should be a dime a dozen compared to 7 footers, as they were used on all extra cabs and all regular standard cabs. Good 7 footers are pretty much unicorns. In order to put a 7 foot box on an extended cab you would need the back half of the frame for a 7 footer and the front half of the frame for the extended cab. I have thought it would be a nice project, but since the turning radius of a standard 7 foot ranger is already close to that of a bus, adding more wheelbase might make things "interesting". You would also need to figure out EXACTLY where to cut the frame to make everything match up, because an EXT frame is different from a standard cab frame all the way to the rear of the cab, for sure - and perhaps beyond. You can even put the fiberglass sided "edge" box on your EXT cab truck - they don't rust away nearly so badly - so should be readilly available ( the only ones available in my local wrecking yard) I had to search high and low to find a rust fee 7 foot box to replace the box on the "longranger"
depends on your skills
anything is possible
