I have a quick question concerning winches. I have a considerable amount of experience rigging and pulling loading etc. My question does anyone on the forum have 6000 lb winch on their truck? I am considering mounting a front receiver tube and using the winch for moderate -light pulls( front and back) and working around my land. NOT rock crawling or mega stuck situations. I was at Harbor Junk and found a 6000 lb for 170.00 with the receiver mount adding another 60 bucks to my purchase. It is to bad that someone does not make a medium duty unit that is in between the 6000 and 9000 . Designed for the occasional use non rock crawler crowd Small Pick Up /SUV

For a whopping 300.00 bucks i can set up something that will pull me or assist at least when I venture out alone in the snow on the back roads near my home and allow me to move it from the front and to the rear of my truck. Maybe using it 6-12 times per year.

Does anyone have a 6000 LB winch on their Ranger with any history of pulling the cable out with any success? The truck is a stock extended 4x4 with a very sweet brand new crate Ford rebuilt 4.0 that purrs like kitten.
