Straight line your fine.

Take a turn at speed and apply throttle in the turn and both wheels are spinning and the truck rear end heads for the outside of the turn and starts to pass you up and get in front of you.

That would be fun for sure wouldn't it. Nothing like having the passenger side slaming into a tree side ways or having an on coming vehicle hit you in the drivers side door at 50 mph to give you a thrill.

thats not going to happen on a dry road, not with the amount of power a ranger puts out at least... and if its ice it'll happen weather you have one or both tires spinning

Yep, that's a fact isn't it. I guess I have to say wet/icey road so no one missunderstands. He should weld it up just to see what happens. He could have a lot of fun with it.

I wanted to weld my front diff for a while. Man I really want to. I'm just going to put a locker in the front and have that so I don't have to worry about welds breaking.

Well DaGGer, I don't think he'll like it but who knows. It will only cost a few hundred dollars to get it back to stock if he don't like it. That's a drop in the bucket for him.

Righty-o. There's a rule: "Lose traction in one direction and you lose traction in all directions." This is why you can slide to the side so easily when you spin your rear wheels -- once then begin to spin, you lose traction in all directions.

That's one of the problems with automatic lockers also. Get on them too hard and lock them up and you can spin both rear wheels and fishtail out of control.

It can be dealt with by using conservative driving technique -- but make no mistake and accept no false assurances: it is an issue you have to deal with with a lincoln-locked rear.
