It seems like the extended cabs have a carrier bearing and so a 2 piece shaft

i have a 97 short cab shoert bed 4x4 with the slip yoke driveshaft. clunks like a mother and i just had it greased up a week ago. is there a permanent fix to this problem? even if it means getting a new driveshaft. i have extra cash and i just want it fixed.

honestly you will have to talk to a custom driveshaft place and discuss your problem and have them make you a custom one to fit your needs. prolly atleast $500.

I think you are confusing the slip yoke clunk TSB with the driveshaft flange "tink" noise TSB

the slip yoke TSB states to use the special grease which works good (not the PTFE grease the TSB used to tell you to use)

the flange noise is caused by excessive tolerance in the machining of the flange splines and the pinion or transfercase output flange, an easy fix is to remove the flange and apply red loctite to the splines of the pinion or the transfercase.

I have NEVER seen a ranger with a two piece driveshaft, with a midshift bearing after 1997

Oh, i was unaware there were two TSBs relating to the driveshaft, my bad. those traction bars sound like they may be worth a look. and anybody know what grease specifically should be used on the slip yoke?

off topic @ Justin. Can you give me the repair kit number for the clicking wheel/steering shaft. It has to do with silver plates or something in the steering column.

Try these. They are the "bulletin numbers". I'm not surprised it is expired. 10 years later LOL. I just want to fix it while I am doing my wiper malfunction switch.
