Transmission Help

I have a 2002 Ranger Edge, 4x4 4.0. with an automatic..In Superbowl Sunday I went to a friends to watch the game.. when I went out to leave(it was cold) . the shifter of course was harder to shift.. at some point a couple minutes the truck started shaking and slowing down..Even if i pressed on the gas.. I pulled on the gear shift lever and it seemed to be ok...it later did it again..then I stopped and put it in park and then back to drive, where there seems to be some "slop" in the lever..anyway all was ok.. till today, it did it again briefly... Only thing I know is there is definite slop in the lever and when i think its in D its kinda inbetween on the lever..But not sure about the trucks shaking and slowing those times..Any Ideas? Oh BTW..No lights or codes yet..

Check the linkage to the transmission, I've heard of a way to get everything tight again. This might not be your problem but it's worth looking into. I think chrisfix has a tutorial on youtube. Might be related to the other complaints. I don't usually work on automatics so its the best I can do.
