tell me about the auto Shift Solenoid
"P1761 Shift Solenoid No. 3 Performance" and "P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off "
Figured I would try the solenoid first and see if that is causing the sticking. Where is this located and any idea about how much one may cost? Pictures would be great!
(ford manual on the way soon...so I can stop asking these questions)

its number three....or solenoid 3. My cousin tried to look it up at the ford dealer and between him and one of the transmission guys could not seem to come up with which one it is. Good news is that he came up with some extra gaskets in case one of the gaskets blew out and a set of solenoids and pressure plate that should all be good!

the older plate gaskets were known to have problems. ford makes a "up-dated" re-useable gasket to cure this problem. i tryed to dig into alldata but didn't get any clear answers, looks like #3 or "C" may be the second one back from the front of the trans in that picture. solenoids dont cost very much and i think your right on tract with replacing all of them and dissassembling the valvebody, cleaning it and using a new seporator gasket.
you may also want to check the harness for any "opens" while you have it apart.

yeah, thats what my cousin found. Even the ford stuff was kinda vague as to which was which. Do you know of any tsbs that may be from this area that would give a little better info? They would not even have to discuss the specific problem, just the diagram would help.
PS, again, I dont know nothing about autos. Was really scared last week. But between the codes and help from the board I am still scared, but confident I can do the work. I once dug into my mazda not having any idea what I was doing and replaced the clutch. That worked...so I am having faith this will too!
