you will definatly want a selectable locker for your front end if this truck is still gonna be your DD. Even if it isnt, a welded spider isnt good. They like to go BOOM!!!!

Jey ran a spool in the front of his truck. It can be done, but like you said it's probably not the best idea.

He's got detroits and gears for both of the axles though. The detroit will replace the carrier anyways, so he won't have any spider gears to worry about.

What kind of vehicle were the axles under before you got them, a Jeep? It looks like the front has a lot of misc brackets on it. Did you buy them as a pair or seperately?

If you don't mind me asking what'd you pay for them?

I've got a set of 78-79 Bronco coil buckets for sale if you need them. Also have a wristed radius arm and radius arm brackets....

the front is a dana 44 off a 79 f250 and i got the coil buckets on it already thanks tho. i bought that one for 650 and the rear i bought is a GM 14 bolt FF off a 1981 gm 3/4 ton i got for for 80 bucks and i spent 1100 CAN $ on gears lockers and rebiuld kits for it.

this weekend i am trying to find leafs for the back from gm or chev 1/2 ton 2wd and eather get them re arched or add a leafs ... whats ur guyses take on re arching leafs?

still need to box in the frame to add leafe mounts on the bottom of the frame and find a solution to the problem that my coil buckets on my frame are to high and to far inside the truck i need to bring them out about 2" each and drop them down X "

as for radius arm i think i will end up getting some fabbed up from a local 4X4 fabrication place

that axle isnt stock IIRC, I saw the build up thread for the original vehicle it was in. And the F250 D44 is worth more then the F150 D44 since they are harder to find.

yea it was that much but it came with spare shafts and hubs, equipted with hub fuses and gear for 5.38 and ready to go

the tires (from what i can measure) i would say they are 40.25"X14 and a bit wide but thats mounted and inflated and with me measuring lol and there on a 16X10" rim

Very nice!

The reason that D44 was probably so expensive is that it's an 8lug version. The parts just for an 8 lug conversion from a 6 lug could easily cost you $150-200 depending on where you get it from.
