It would need 3 new gears all new bearings cauz i have it apart, and new seals. shift forks are still tight and all other gears are still perfect as well as syncros. there was no little metal flakes in the trans fluid just chunks... lol

so the question is do you think i can get all the parts for cheeper than a used trany? i found a 2000 trany with 47k on it for about $600.

See if you can get cheap parts. I use ZBAG - Zumbrota Bearing & Gear - Home (Zumbota bearing and gear). They seem to have reasonable prices. Although that used tranny is cheap.

I'm guessing you would be better off with a used tranny rather than trying to rebuild this one. Hard parts get very expensive very fast.

That looks like my tranny that I replaced about 5-6 months ago. Although I had metal flakes in my fluid, and only about 3/4 of a quart of fluid in it when it went...

I got a 4x4 tranny from karking and it has been working fine. I think it was $750 shipped, including a core charge I didn't return.

I would guess $250 - $400 at a wrecking yard. 4x4's are rare around here so it wasn't an option for me.

Go buy used. Some U-Pull-It places sell them cheap. I know I only paid like $80 for my manual trans on half off weekend, so I would guess $150-$200 and you'll have a spare tranny for parts by keeping your broken trans.

kormex trans parts

I think you have a M5R1 right? kormex trans parts <---$525 fully rebuilt plus shipping and core. I have heard good things about them but I have no personal experience with them. This was going to be my choice when my trans went out.

I lost all my gears when I was driving on the highway. When I dropped my tranny to check it out after I got it to a shop, the biggest gear had all its teeth worn down. I went ahead and bought a rebuilt.
