No forward gears!!

I'm back... Today I drove to the store... When I went to leave I put it in drive and NOTHING happened at all! I put it in reverse and it shifted into gear fine. So I put it back into drive and still nothing. Now I kept it in drive and after about 2 min it went into gear. But I have a fluid leak coming in between the block and tranny. HELP HELP

What kind of fluid leak? What is the ATF level?

consider a auto tranny as 1 big hydraulic pump

when you have a leak ,, you lose power

I had that happen to my truck 2 years ago. I dont remember what exactually happend but something inside the tranny broke and I lost all forward gears. $1600 later I had a new tranny installed.

I have put it in all the lower gears, nada... Now if I put it in 1st or 2nd and leave it there for bout 10-15 secs it will grab and I can go. It has had a very small leak for a day or 2, nothing real bad. I even had my wife jump in press the brake while i disconnected the shifter and tried to shift it myself. Same results, wont go into gear.

sounds like you have excessive pressure. If you have a gauge tap into one of the many spots and get a pressure reading and compare it with the specs.

What year? Some of the transmissions are notorious for separator plate gaskets breaking and losing fluid pressure, leading to loss of gears, especially since you said it will after a few seconds, thats the time it needs to boost the fluid pressure to hopefully overcome the leak.
