l/s rearend question

2011 ranger 3.73 l/s with fords rsc not sure if that would make a difference or not. With l/s and 1 tire in the ditch and 1 on pavement should l/s kick in when the tire in the ditch spins? And when it does kick in shouldnt they spin at the same rate? The way i think of it they should spin at the same rate. Example: last night our driveway was blocked so my wife parked in the ditch and when we she got in it to put it in the driveway the wheel in the ditch spun its *** off and the other wheel that was ever so slighty on the pavement never once lost traction. According to ford over the winter time when l/s kicked in it made an awful clicking type noise and apparently its the RSC doing its thing which is basically applying brakes and acting like ABS or at least thats how they described it to me because if you hit the button to turn it off you dont hear the noise. I just dont ever recall having l/s and the tires not spinning the same speed. Also i dont if its just models with RSC but ours has a low traction light and a light that if you hit the button it says off (has a car with 2 s-shape lines behind it) i have only seen the low traction flash once since we bought it new. Shouldnt ever time it slips it should flash? Or what has to happen to make it flash? Sorry for all the questions and info but i tried my best to be descriptive and im just plain disappointed with the truck it makes me feel like we got a lemon after the few problems weve had so far and now if the l/s and RSC system isnt working like it should.
