How much did your Auto Trans Rebuild Cost?
Looking at a complete rebuilt transmission for my '94 XLT, 4x4, 4.0L with 109,XXX miles. Thought I'd get more miles out of it but it has some history of towing use and it is, after all, 20 y/o.
My shop will do it and include a torque converter plus a 12/12 warranty - all for $1,600 to $1,800. This seems like a pretty good price to me. Thinking about getiing a written estimate. (Coz I Googled: "Aamco Complaints" and read many stories of customers who were told one (low) price but then socked for a lot more after things were apart and in pieces. Most were charged $3-3500 for work that proved faulty soon after.)
Anyway, just thought I'd ask those of you who had their tranny's rebuilt, what it cost. I do not need to hear about those who did it themselves or went the junkyard route as that's not gonna happen in my case. I really like this new-to-me (6 mos ago), good-condition, Ranger and, given it's low(ish) miles, I thought it would last me a while given that I'll put < 3K miles/per year on it.
Thanks!

I'm paying a guy $1300 to pull and rebuild the transmission out of an Expo with upgraded parts right now. He's also putting in a new high-performance stall converter. Excellent price if you ask me. I spent close to $2k when the one in my Ranger went out several years ago, and that didn't include any performance parts like the Expo tranny. In hindsight, I realized I got hosed on that deal, but you live and learn.
