Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hub Assembly
ok so im changing out one of my hub assemblies cause it was on its way out, well i started taking everything apart, first was the hub, the black center part and it was not coming out at all, rust had taken over not allowing anything to come apart, well it finally let loose only not the way it was supposed too, the grooved part stayed in the hub not allowing me to slide the whole assembly off, so i dont know how to get the parts that are left in the hub and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to give, all i need to do to get this off is take the little lock ring and the plastic ring off of the axle to get it off and i just cant get to them, heres some pics.....

The center spline is the cv shaft. The gear in the middle is the locking portion of the PVH hub.
I'm not sure how to get it out but it must come out to change the wheel bearing.
Behind the broken auto hub gears is an orange snap ring holding the shaft in place. When I did mine I just broke it and replaced it. I'm not sure if you can just undo the three bolts holding the hub to knuckle and just rip in off or not.

well its supposed to come out with the hub but mine just broke off cause its just weak plastic, i know that the cv is just held in place by the plastic and the little lock right washer but i wasnt sure if it would just break apart or not......ive tried drilling holes in the pvh gear and wiggling it out but its very tidious and i got other things to do......how did you go about breaking yours off???

My PVH hubs didnt break like that so I just used a small screwdriver to break the snap ring. A new one is about 8 bux. With out the removal tool breaking is likely.
As long as you buy new locking hubs for 4wd and have a new wheel hub. You can destroy everything except the center shaft. If you do a new one is about 80 bucks online.

well if i pop the cv out im still not going to get the hub off the axle so ill be i the same situation only with the hub off the truck, ive got my uncle coming over to heat it with accetalene and hope that works.......how do you pop the cv out??? where do you pry on it?? where is it clipped in??

you could do that. i think a new CV is around 100 bucks.
but yeah the cv sometimes takes some effort to pop out but it is just a retaining ring in the diff. you may need to add more Diff fluid once done.
i just stick a pry bar in there and give it a good wack. just make sure you are careful around the seal when sliding it back in.

yes at the end of the tube. there is a seal. you will see it you jsut want to make sure the shaft is nice and clean before you put it back in. the seal is near that red line. it looks just like the other side of the diff you can see the seal.
put your pry bar in the area where the red line is. it does not have to be in the same spot but that is where it goes. you can do that all the way around that point.

im hoping everything is the same, in the pvh hub there is a retaining clip behind where the hub slides onto that i cant get to to get the hub assembly off so that is the main reason im trying to find an alternate route, if i get a new cv than all i need to do is just put all the new stuff back on and wait for the avm's to get here tommorrow.....
