Hard to shift into gear 04 Ranger

Guys, need some help here.

In my auto tranny, when I try to shift from park to any position, the shifter is hard.

I disconnected the cable from the tranny, and the cable disconnected is loose, so the tranny is the one that is hard to shift into any gear, back or forth.

What could be the cause of this?

There is enough oil in the tranny, it is not overfilled, the tranny does not leak, once in drive, the tranny shifts normal, does not hesitate or spins endlessly on one same gear.

Do I need to take it apart?

This is not normal, I never had any other truck do this, I think I can live with it like this, but like I said, it is not normal.

Any help would be appreciated...

try some Transtune. (seafoam stuff)
it may be a valve body in there getting a bit gummed up.

were can I get the transtune?

autozone? any car parts store?

is it something like a transmission conditioner or something similar?

would an oil change work?

Yea, Autozone carries it. Its like a conditioner, but its petroleum based, so you just toss it in and drive it.
If you want to change the fluid and filter in your tranny, that also wouldn't be a bad idea.
