Had to change the rear axle bearings and seals
I was rotating the tires last week, and noticed that the right rear tire was covered in gear oil. Sure enough, I grabbed the wheel studs and could shake the axle shaft around. Great.
I pulled the axles out, and yanked the bearings and seals out with a bearing puller from Autozone. They gave me the wrong sized bearings at first, which I would guess were for 31 spline shafts. Returned them and got the right ones.
Had to get a new axle shaft, as that one was ground down. Autozone didn't have any in stock, and it was 168 bones or so. Ended up getting one from the pick and pull for 36 bucks.
To put the bearings and seals back in I just grabbed a big socket that was close to the same size, and tapped them in until they wouldn't go any farther.
Seems great so far. Gas mileage is up, but not sure if its from the new bearings yet.
