Front Driveshaft
#53
Got some work done to mine....tomorrow the gap will be measured and shaft will be dropped off for shortening and balancing.
THANKS!!!!!!! goes to my little brother......who spent some good quality time with this tapered everywhere adaptor!! Thanks lil bro!! I understand it was alot of fun due to no square surfaces to secure the piece with on the lathe or the milling machine.
Shaved the OD of the flange down so it would fit nice and flush in the tcase 'bucket' and drilled 4 extra holes....two existing holes in my 283288 adaptor were in correct positions. It fits PERFECT in the bucket on the trans...used m8 allen heads grade 12.9 i believe.

Shane, you have Bob's other driveshaft right? Same one that I got correct? I've checked on the net as far as measuring driveshaft length....your supposed to measure from the center of the unjoint to the center of the ujoint correct? Also with the truck on the ground. Anyone please chime in.....

on the stock diff you only need about an inch of travel in each direction.
you measure center of ujoint ot center of ujoint.

talked to Brian at http://www.rockandrolloffroad.com/ about giving my driveshaft a cut and balance...cost is around 100$ so it might be more than OKC driveline, but it's closer to me and I'll make up for it in gas...LOL
so I'm taking mine down on Sat, and should have it before christmas....

Yes...center of u-joint to center of u-joint. I don't remember off the top of my head, but it was like 26 and 7/8?? inches. lol. Honestly don't remember.
I just dropped it off today, it'll run me $88 to shorten and balance...said it'll be a 1 to 2 day turn around time. Oh the sweet sweet success of me winning this race with you Eric. lol.
Total part breakdown:
$150 for the shaft
$92 for the adaptor
$88 for shorten/balence
$330 total
Still alot better than trying to find the Superlift shaft for under $450.
GRANT!! THANKS AGAIN!!!!

ok zach....here's what I got....and forgive me on how I measured it...I can't really tell what the "neutral center" of the slip yoke is, but I can give you fully collapsed which is 29 1/2 in roughly....and Full extension (which is as far as I could possibly pull it, just before the spline comes out of the shaft ) is 33 1/2 in. So basically 4 in difference. So your looking at 31 1/2 as the center right?
