Front Driveshaft

Front Driveshaft
Ok so I've searched all the way back to Bad Karma's thread about his adapter, and there is soo much "try this" "try that" that I have no clue what works or not.
I have 2 Stock Tullip style driveshafts in my possesion, one is totally smoked (tullip end) and the other is in good working order. As you know I have the superlift kit. WHAT vehicle can I pull a driveshaft from that is a DUEL CARDON setup. I'm not worried about it being too long, I can chop it off, and re-weld it. I def want a duel cardon setup, does the explorer, have the same style driveshaft as the ranger on the t-case end? I.E a beveled end? and Is the explorer a duel cardon style? WHAT YEARS? Another words What shaft do I need, not worried about welding, cutting, or making an adapter I have a lathe at work. Just need a little push in the right direction guys.
Maurice, I know you had said something awhile back about running a u-joint flange at the t-case vs a slip yoke? (I think that's what you said) correct me if I'm wrong. What's the advantage, I would figure that a center slip yoke would enable you more movement in the driveline without binding up? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ya'll.

well now that I found out Maurice has been banned, I did find out from him on another forum that you have to split the case apart in order to change out the "Output shaft" from my 1354 which is a 99 model year to a Pre 1997 1354 output shaft. Anyone wanna add to this? How hard is it to split the case? I've never done it, hell I haven't even had the case off since I've owned the truck....

Just so ya'll know, I've got some great news from Neapco. I've had the superlift kit on my truck and it smoked my front driveshaft like they said it would. The adapter that Beard was talking about awhile ago is STILL available. There was some threads running around saying they were discontinued awhile back. I called Neapco this morning and they have changed the part # for it,and is readily available. The part # is N-2-83-288x . You have to call customer service (Neapco) and find out the closest distributor to you in order to get it. Neapco doesn't sell unless you are a distributor. The cost was 103.11$ I also asked this shop what they would charge for them to shorten the shaft and balance it. I was quoted 60$ for a chop and balance with a one day turnaround. Hope this helps ya'll out. As soon as I recieve mine I'll post up and maybe do a how to. I figured between the shaft and adapter and modifications your still going to come under the 400$ superlift shaft. HOpe this helps.

Nice glad they are still making that part.
as for the shaft selection
97 ranger and explorers should have a double cardon shaft, there are other years just not sure what.
I got mine from a 96 Jeep XJ, so all XJs from 87? to 97, should have the same shaft that will bolt up to that adapter, then just have it shortened.

Now I talked to Maurice about it over on another forum and he said there was a chance that because of the superlift you may not have to have it shortened? I don't know, I'm going to be buying my goodies here in the next 2 weeks so once I get em I'll post some pictures up and let everyone know how it goes. I'm just happy that they still make it LOL...I didn't wanna shell out 400 bucks for a superlift driveshaft.

HAHA....my local distributer is on my drive to work...heck i pass the place twice daily!! Looks like i'll be calling them when i wake up, then possibly picking up my adaptor come wednes!!
Does anybody know for sure if this neapco adaptor + explorer/ranger double cardon shaft needs shortening when being used on a Superlifted truck?? I suppose i'll cross that road when i get there come fri or thurs.
I hope to have an axle pulling come saturday....i'm so tired of just one axle pushing. lol.

hahah sorry just realized this thread was going somewhere. LOL I have the new ranger shaft from BOB...but yet to get the neapco adapter so far, I need to get the driveshaft bolted up and see how much room I have. I think the slip yoke only has 1-3 in of actual travel so I'm not sure if the shaft will need to be shortened. I'll keep ya posted.

Here's the Neapco # N-2-83-288x . There's one little issue with it.....4 bolt holes on the flange....where we need 6. That'll be cured on wednes by my little brother at the machine shop. The adaptor fits sorta odd like in the 'bucket' on the tcase....does that 'bucket' stay on the case?? OR does the adaptor replace that 'bucket'? I have yet to look.
Below are also some comparisons between the stock shaft and the expo/ranger shaft i too got from bob rwenzinger(lol) with the adaptor fit into place.
I planned on going knee deep into the fitment and such, figuring out *if* the shaft will fit w/o shortening....woke up too late today. I'll be bumping this thread up and up as i get my front axle pulling again. lol.
Both standing side by side, both at full compression.....I assume shortening would be needed.

Shane, when I called neapco that's what they told the number was for the ranger. So the bolt pattern is not the same, and needs to be machined huh? Great......that sucks. Beard what was the part # of your's? I know they discontinued it, but I'd like to get the # and call neapco and beat em up about it! Shane sorry it's not working out like it is supposed to. Keep me posted man.

Beard, i'll buy it from you if you're willing to sell it to me. Then eric would be pissed at me and you. lol.
I'll talk to my lil bro today about it...he might be able to get it all perfect w/o the need of your adaptor...he'll just be using my stock fubared shaft.
If you could please grab a part number off that, that would be AWESOME! I'll put off the machine work until a number is posted i suppose. Maybe they still do make it under a new part #. who knows.
oh beard...could you post some pics of yours?? so i can sorta mimic what it looks like incase i want to carry out the machining??
Thanks buddy beard. lol.
