Found a manual shift case out of a 97 Ranger

Yes that's what I found. Question is will it work with my manual tranny? Also will it work with a fx4 shifter? I know I would have to get the driveshaft out of a 96 and up exploder. Thanks

That case should work and, from what I understand, it uses exactly the same linkage as the 2002/3 FX4 manual case.

The 97 t-case will bolt up to your 2003 manual transmission extension housing BUT you will need to check to see if your extension housing has the 2 bosses for the manual t-case linkage. It is possible that this special housing may have been used only on the 2002 FX4 and 2003 LII. You CANNOT use a manual extension housing from any 2000 or earlier Ranger even if it has the bosses for the t-case linkage - that's because it will not have the machined hole for the OSS. Without the OSS, you cannot make the 2001+ speedometer work.

Below is the extension housing that you would need for a 2001+ Ranger with a manual transmission and a manual 1354 t-case. The two threaded bosses are the mounts for the linkage. The blue connector is on the OSS sensor.

the front driveshaft you will want is from a 95-96 explorer ONLY. Only those two years have the correct length shaft with the correct constant velocity joint to bolt up to the 97 t-case front output yoke.

Hey thanks @$$hole. JK. My electric shift has failed on me once and I don't want it to go out again. I have been looking everywhere for the stupid extension housing.

Id say the best thing I ever saw out there blew away any lifted truck or mud bogger. It was a Porsche Cayenne Turbo with some kind of mud tire on the stock wheels. The Rastafarian guy behind the wheel was mobbing the crap out of it. It was doing quite well too. There is nothing like watching a turbo $100K suv going through mud.

Yeah he had the suspension all the way up and it looked good with those mud tires on the stock rims. He said he wanted to eventually build a K5 Blazer.
