Extension Housing Seal

So my tranny is leaking at the extension housing. I see there is a seal available from Ford but is where is it? Is it at the point where the extension housing meets the tranny case or where the extension housing meets the transfercase? Also should I use anything else along with the seat? RTV?

RTV by itself is what you should use.

I think that is what Ford did too. You can see the excess that was there from when they sealed it. Red or black RTV? I think the black is more resistant to oil than the red.

trans to extention housing : honestly don't know if there's a seal/gasket there or not.

extention housing to tcase : factory there's a paper gasket or plastic gasket(don't remember which) in between the two. No clue why? because there's a drain in the extention housing at the bottom. When i put the tcase back in, its bare between the case and extention housing.

is that wrong? I'm just wondering.
