That price is reasonable, about on par with a true trac in most applications.
Is it going to work as well as a locker? No. But I would have rather had a good limited slip in front of my sport trac instead of the locker. The rear locker did most of the work anyway, the front is heavier and normally kept both front tires on the ground. A limited slip would have worked well, stressed the front end less and made tight maneuvering in 4x4 easier.
