Cross shaft removal problem HELP ASAP
I am currently trying to remove the cross shaft in my open differential to install a lock right. Somehow the retaining pin has been sheared off (I did not do this when removing it). The strange thing is that is not whats holding it in. The end of the cross shaft that has the retaining pin can spin freely, the other end is spinning with the spider gear. The end without the retaining pin is being held to the spider gear and I cannot get it to move.
The cross shaft is solid, not notched, and I do not know what is holding it in.
Anyone have any ideas? I NEED HELP ASAP.

well i figured out what happened
When I took the old lock-right out before the shop guy used the lock-right pinion shaft instead of the stock one because the stock one was messed up from the locker slipping. I have read that the lock-right shaft has a smaller tolerance, so it froze onto one of the spider gears. In doing that the retaining pin sheared off and the only thing that is holding the pinion shaft in the carrier is the fact that its frozen to the spider. Now that the retaining pin is broken the shaft spins around with the spider(its not supposed to correct?) and the end with the retaining pin has widened the hole in the carrier.
Believe me i tried a bfh, it would not budge. It actually started to deform the carrier.
The truck drives fine, and it must have been like this for a long time since the spiders were put back in over a year ago. I am currently looking for a new axle since the carrier is not in the best of shape and I'd like to upgrade to 4.10s and ls.
I now have a never installed lock-right for a 7.5 that I need to sell.

Do you have any idea how much that would cost?

$50 bucks is a great price if somebody had told me they would do it for that price I would have gladly paid them.
