buddy of mine has an 01 ranger XLT 4x4 i beleive and he said the other day on the highway the 4x4 light started blinkng.


any suggestions??

 

take it out of 4x...hhaha jk... seriously i dunno

 

 

mine does it to but i think mine might be from taking out the auto t-case and puting the manuel t-case in.

 

well i bet mine would do the same but i dont have 4 wheel drive, but in my old truck it clanked and clunked sometimes when i was turning in the dirt in 4 wheel and i wasent over turning either.

I believe that a blinking 4x4 light is to the transfer case what a Check Engine Light is to the engine. In other words, it is signaling that it has a trouble code stored and it would need to be pulled to know where the problem is.

Unfortunately, AFAIK, a generic OBDII code puller can't talk to the 4x4 Module. He would probably need to go to a Ford dealer or maybe a well-equipped independent shop to get the code pulled.
