ABS engaging on Dry Pavement?

ABS engaging on Dry Pavement?
I have been having this issue for the past 2-3 weeks, usually happens 3-4 times a week. The ABS is engaging when coming to a stop and slightly turning my wheel (to make a right turn; and the speedo is saying 5-10 MPH or below). It engages like i am sliding on Ice. I just got it back from the dealer and there are no codes in the computer system, and they cannont find anything, nor did the ABS engage when they drove it (of course). They said the ABS is working correctly.
I have been told that it may be occouring since i have a 35x12.50 tire and my speedometer has not yet been corrected? I also read it may be an ABS sensor located by my front brakes that needs replacing?
Help is much appreciated, this needs to be fixed asap. Thanks.

Interesting, if its the tires, im just wondering why it has JUST started doing it now? I ran 33s for over a year and now the 35s have been on for almost 5 months.
Zach i checked the line you told me about connected to the clip on the frame - everything there looked fine. I cant remeber where the sensor is located?

Try putting a new abs sensor on maybe?

mark are you hitting any bumpy roads at all or anything some what wash board surface or anything with just a little hop bump in the road when you brake? if so thats the ABS thinking your slipping. and with the added size of the 35's the ABS modual is probly just pissed off.
abs is over rated mine is disabled... i like it better with out it..

you have a front speed sensor shorting at speeds below 5MPH
i'm suprized the dealer could not find this seeing as its a common problem on rangers and explorers.
i have a scanner that will look at live data if you want to check it out. what happens is the sensor (useuley the left front) will drop out at 5MPH and below causing a false ABS trigger with no codes in history. i may even have a spare sensor laying around here somewhere.

just about the only way to check it out is doing a "live data" scan on it, or a road test with the scanner hooked up.
i have such scanner. when can you come to westland?

Okay, I'm confused here. Is the ABS light on? If it's not on there is no problem with your speed sensors, and there is nothing wrong with your tone wheels or anything like that. You're just going to waste time and money throwing parts at it. If you're ABS is active when you're turning, it's supposed to be since the inside wheel is traveling slower than the outside wheel. The reason that you notice it more is because the tires are bigger, it takes a noticeable amount of effort to stop those so it feels more intense than it usually is. I can almost guarantee that if you threw your stock wheels on it and made the same stop you wouldn't feel a thing. As for calibrating the tires, it is a good deal to do since it is helpful but it won't fix anything other than the speedometer. If you don't have an aftermarket tuner you can take your truck to Ford and they can do change it with their WDS if you give them how many revs per mile the tire turns. Hope this helps some.

john i hate to say this but your very wrong on all counts.
the ABS light does not have to be on for there to be a problem.
the ABS system should only be active when one wheel differs from another with speed or MPH. you must havent fixed cars very long or you just havent run into this problem on rangers/explorers yet. what happens is rust builds up under and around the sensor and does things to the sensor the computer doesn;t like. most of the time on these trucks the sensor will read 0 mph untill around 5 mph then it synks with the other 2 sensors, there will be no problems untill slow speed stops, turning, parking, with no ABS light or fault codes.

i dought tire size would trigger a false ABS event.
the tires are all spinning at the same speed unless one of them is comming off the ground lol.
i have no clue as to what the dealer you took your truck to has or used or how they used it on your truck mark.
i do know this, my scanner will find any problems with your ABS system.

What i was told is when my speedometer says 0 - i am really actually traveling 1-4 mph, etc. I was told the ABS works from the speedometer, which is measured from the rear tires. So when the ABS is seeing that the speedometer says 0, and the vehicle is moving, that can cause the abs to be triggered etc. This would be from the speedometer left uncorrected from the stock size?
