1354 slipping out of 4x4

Well took the truck back into the trails on the Key today shifted the 4x4 in so I could crawl through some sand. Things were going well until I got stuck and was starting from a stop. The 4x4 disengaged under load and started to grind out. I THREW the shifter into neutral on the trans and the T-case as fast as I could to avoid any worse damage.

Shifted into low with no incident and crawled my way out of the deep stuff. shifting back into 4x4 its working fine until deceleration in gear and it slips out again. Same nasty sounds, same reaction. SO, now my 4x4 is unreliable unless in low range.

I vaguely recall reading about a similar issue somewhere but I can't find it now. Something about the gears being worn and slipping off of each other under the right conditions and the case needing a bit of TLC and a rebuild? Disappointing that my twin stick swap has only been complete a few months and its already hurtin, Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

well, no one replied and I haven't taken the case off n cracked it open yet cause were moving. Im fairly certain I'm going to be doing a full rebuild of the 1354m. Planetary and ring gears , chain and all seals and bearings, the pump and shift forks. At least once I get to SoCal. I will... I figure if I have to have it all the way apart anyhow I may as well do the works... If anyone has suggestions on who to go with on parts I'll take um. Right now I'm just thinking I'll order everything from National.
