If a 16 valve 2.3 is half of a 32 valve 4.6... let me finish......then wouldn't a muffler off a late model Mustang 4.6 gt on my 2.3 sound like half the sound note from the 4.6???
I was searching you tube for some after market exhaust videos for my truck but the sounds I've been hearing have been... well laim. I chased down a site that shows the same cat back system for all 3 engines for that year. I know a 2.3 can't sound like a V-8, but can it sound like half a one??? I'll wait till the bone yard by me dries up before I head out a try to find a totaled Mustang and drag a muffler off of it.

Yes it will sound like half of a one.....it'll sound like the 4clyinder version lol. You will never get a great sound out of a 4 banger no matter the muffler it'll still sound like a 4cly.

 

Yeah, they all show the chambers in their after market systems so I thought a muffler from an oem supplier would sound different. Nothing came close to a good sound, they all sounded like a mail truck. I'll give it a shot someday.

i have a flow master super 44 series on my old 89 2.3 no cat lol loud as hell driving early to go hunting i see lights turn on in my rear view mirror, hahahahaha

 

flowmaster if you want throaty but get a universal one and cut out the cat if that's what you really want, but it will get annoying after a while, plus it won't fool anybody. The sure fire way is to swap in a bigger engine! :D
