Getting tar off carpet

Well I got some of the sticky stuff from my Dynamat when I was storing it under my sub box for a while.. and it got on my carpet in the back.. wonder if anybody knew something that would take it out and not change the carpet to white and any ugly ring about the spot! thanks

ouch man, sorry to hear that happen to you.

I know of some cleaners that might help remove it but changing color of your carpet might be a whole different ballgame. Can you just cut some of the carpet that is surrounding it? that's the only way I can think of too safely remove it if you want to retain the original color of your carpet. -Mike-

For tar, I have had good luck with WD-40, to get the tar out, then regular carpet cleaner to remove the WD-40.

Probably should try the WD-40 first. Goo gone is a lot stronger and color change of carpet is a possibility. Wd cleans a lot of stuff. Also, denatured alcohol takes tar right off though I haven't tried it on carpet. Goo gone as a last resort..
