you can fit a 10" sub and lose 1 seat click of leg room, so id hope you could fit 6x9 speakers. do the boxes have specs? do you own a measuring tape?
the after market deck will have a higher preamp then factory, amps arent needed imo till you need your speakers to keep up with your sub. 6x9 will also fit up front with mild trimming.
do the xl not have to 2 6x8's behind the seat, already not a good acoustic location for speakers

thinking about it, tell me if i can have this better...
pioneer cd unit the one from best buy 119.
stock front door speakers, and 2 pioneer 6 X 9 for the rear on the enclosures??? whatcha think??? i can save money this way.... and I am hoping the 2 6X9 in the enclosures can produce some decentg basss. with this setup I might have to adjust the fade control to power the rears more than the fronts... whatcha think???

No, you don't want the rear speakers overpowering the fronts, rear speakers are for fill only, alot of audiophiles don't even use rear speakers. If you want bass in the rear get a sub. Spend your money on front speakers and put your stockers in the rear. I run Jl audio 5x7's in the front off an amp, left the rear speakers stock running off of the deck power and two 10" subs, powered by a mono amp.

sh!tbynines won't produce much bass when put into a small box like that. Most all have mechanical qualities that make them suited for large infinite baffle setups. ie. rear deck of car. your better off running small round subs in a proper sized box. round speakers = less distortion. Very true about the rear speakers.. it destroys the sound stage. there is no good reason to have rear speakers playing mid and high notes. (Is not "surround sound" by any means)
Unless you have the proper equipment to delay the signal to the rear speakers then you are only destroying the image.
6x9 are not subs.
