what to buy: boston, diamond, focal or mb quart components? (lots of opinions pls)

well my search for new front speakers is down to four:

have tried the following w/alpine amp (same series as mine, only 100w instead of 120w):

boston pro60 - great clarity and sound from low volumes to "hurt you ears". to me they were more harsh.

mb quart premier pce216 - awesome all around. great midbass. well-rounded sound even at really high volumes. not sure if they would handle as much power as the boston's continually.

monday they will have the focal audio kf 165s installed, i will try those then.

nobody has diamond audio around here, so if someone could describe their sound to me. i know they handle power great (would 100-120 be enough?).

boston - $400 on ebay
diamond - $310 on ebay
focal - $350 on ebay
mb quart - $275 on ebay (sound better than boston, why so much cheaper?)

so what do the focal and diamond sound like comparatively?
should i drop diamond from my list because i can't hear them w/o buying?
any of these have reps of performance problems over time?

I prefer MB Quarts over any other in the speaker world. I have the discus models, they're not the best, but sound awesome. My friend and I installed a set of Reference components in his car, and boy are those good. He paid 200$ and it's definately well worth it.
I haven't heard focals, but most people prefer mb's over bostons, which are also great.

MB Quarts quality has been lacking in recent yrs. might i suggest Resonant Engineering components. guranteed to blow the doors off all 4 mentioned.

I like boston and diamond....Resonant Engineering is another good choice. You may also want to check out Elemental Design components, they have some awesome car audio.

a link for resonance engineering please.

i hate to limit my options, but unless i'm blown away by something's design, i'll be going with something that i get a chance to hear first...

Elemental Design has a new 6.5" MidLFE speaker out....you could buy a set of those and a set of tweeters and make your own component set. I don't mean to preach for Edesign...I just love their stuff. RE is awesome also.

You might also want to check out CDT components....they're nice.

Edit* if you decide to go with Edesign...here are some coupon codes for $25 off the components.

listened to the focals today, as well as their k2p.

it will definitely be the k2ps. they go for 525 on ebay, and 570 @ speedsound.com.

i wish i could try brands like RE and CDT, but after the jl's (bought xr's and hated them) i can't risk buying something i don't know i want.

anyways, at this level it is all personal preference, and i think it would be hard to beat the focals. lots of people are saying the k2's sound even better than the utopias.

I had the K2's and went to the W's. They had good power before, but with my new amp they came alive. Focal's sound even better when they are fully broken in.

Where can those be found a local street racing site member said I should check them out really. For my whole entire system. But I think the Orion H2 12.2 Sub will remain my pick in the sub department. Since they were tested louder than the bigger JL Audio w7 13 lol. But where can I buy or find into (besides main site) about RE!?!

There are a lot of people that like them very much at www.the12volt.com

While your Orion sub is definately a good one, check out the Adire audio Bramha. I've never heard a louder, cleaner sounding sub.

Just send them an email....there aren't many RE dealers. I've searched on Google and found a few though...most in Europe.
