USA Spec iPod Adapter - X-Mas Gift from the Wife.

The Wife is buying one of the USA Spec iPod Adapters for my Ranger, she can’t put it in her’s so I got lucky; got the Aux hookup wire too, not sure what I will do with the aux input but it has it.

Any input on the install ?

Seems straight forward but was wondering, “If you have one, how did it go” ?

Thanks for any input.

The kit I got was super easy. If I remember correctly the iPod adapter ones have a power wire you have to hook up correct? Is it a 5v wire or 12v wire?

I downloaded the instructions but haven’t read them yet.

I did pull the radio to check on the 20 pin connector before buying the unit and it came out really easy, with the correct tools.

Will let everyone know how the install went and how it works with the iPod/Aux hookups.

Anyone else use this unit ?

An aftermarket head might mean you have more to that system. So they break in find nothing and take other things. If you buy cheap they would still break in and tint doesn't do anything if you are up against the car and if you have tint so dark you can't see through when you are up against it then you can't drive and you are getting pulled over all the time.

Yes since alarms prevent break ins. When was the last time you saw someone pay attention to a car alarm unless they where trying to sleep?

By that time the thief would have already ripped the bezel off and running away with your stereo.

A real thief is in and out in no time. An alarm will make noise but that's it. I have had friends that got everything stolen from their car even with an alarm. All it takes is one guy to open the door and pop the hood and the other to cut the siren wire. An alarm is a theft deterrent. You will have a better chance of them skipping your car but if they really want what you have they will get it.

My dad and I both have the older USA Spec adapters in our rangers. I had one stolen and got another as well so we have had 3. Really easy and strait forward install takes 5 minutes maybe. The one issue we have ran across is some electrical interference in my old unit and my dads unit. Upgraded plug wires solved the issue in my truck, and it is barely noticeable in my dads truck, moral of the story shield the wire.
