reg cab box: "faux" center console?
so I've been using a cube-shaped box wedged between the middle seat and the dash, and realized, that the location isn't bad:
-the space is wasted anyways
-I don't think I'll ever use that middle seat leg space for a passenger
-you can get FRONT stage bass
-there's enough space to fit ~1.0 cubic foot box with a 10" sub that has a deep magnet
But a box in the front is just asking for theft, so I was thinking about building a faux box that looks like a center console. The box is going to be:
-~1.0 cubic feet (sealed)
-the box will have a front firing 10" sub underneath the dash
-it'll be carpeted to match the interior
-the top will have a raised center with cutouts for cupholders
-there will be a custom-fitted slot for my wallet
-there will be a clip for toll-booth tickets
-there might be an accessory +12v cigarette lighter plug
-there will be a desktop cellphone charger glued to a location that allows me to see the screen with the phone open
-there will be a panel with flushmount switches for the sub-amp and driving lights
-the space is wasted anyways

So in essence it's a subwoofer box.
But when you look inside the truck, you see a carpet-matched center console as evidenced by its carpeting, location and cupholders.
Sound good?
Edit: oh, and it might be a tight enough fit that you'll need to take out the passenger seat to remove it. Thus, even without bolting it down, it'll be resistant to theft.
