Ranger XL- trying to replace radio delete with a radio!
Hey everyone.
I've search on this forum a lot to get some questions answered, so I thought it was about time I joined!
I have a 1993 Ford Ranger XL- a stripped-down work truck meaning it didn't come with a radio! I recently found out that the radio delete came with a radio harness. Sure enough, when I popped off the radio delete panel, there were two labeled wiring harnesses that hook up to a head unit. However, I have been trying to find the wires from the harness that go to the door panel speakers. The openings on the sides of the panels that allow the wires to run from the head unit to the door panels are just plugged with rubber seals. I can't find any wires that even drop down under the dash to connect to. Basically, I have the wire harness for the head unit, but there aren't any wires I see that connect from the head unit to the door panel speakers (that I will be purchasing soon).
Has anyone done this before? Or does anyone understand the system well enough to help me out? I do see a wire harness underneath the dash that attached to the frame by a plastic screw. It is located in the middle, beneath the cigarette lighter and power outlet. Is this what hooks up to the speakers? If so I would have to buy speaker wires and what not to run it to the door panels right?
If you can help me out that would be great!!!
Thanks in advance.
Dereck

If you can find the factory wiring diagram it should have the color codes for the speaker wires. They may be tied back under the dash. The factory puts in the wiring harness well before the final trim is installed. There is not a special harness for trucks without a radio so your speaker wires or the connectors are there somewhere near each door post.
