JL or Kicker. Opinions Please!
well like the title says, what do you think is better. ive had people tell me kicker is better and other peopl tell me JL is better. If i went with Kicker it would be a KX600.1 AMP AND 2 12" CVR'S. If i went with JL it would basicly be the same thing but JL. What don you all think would be better. Thanks.

If you're in a rush, don't be. You can always keep saving money buy what you really want or what will work better for you. There will always be sales.

they 2 companies are apples and oranges, JL is more about being accurate and clean along with expensive, kicker is more ***** to the wall try to get loud thing
both are pretty expensive, you are paying for the name for each one, if you look around there are better companies for cheaper
kicker kx1200 retails for like 700$, way to much
jl 1000/1 retails for like 800-900$ way better deals on amps,
and a watt is a watt there is no arguing
i was impressed with the kicker L7s but not what they were paying for them, 400$ not worth 400$ to me, but if you can get them off ebay really good for the price
to me one of the better all around subs is a W3 sounds good and gets pretty loud
but its up to you i would want something a little different than everybody else if it was me, be different

Bamaboy ( BJD II ) beat me to it. It all depends on what sound you are going for and more specifically what music you will be listening to mostly. how and where do you plan to mount. firing up down, ported sealed? you can make em both do whatever you want really. and before you go blow all that money on subs and amps, spend a lil on dampening to get better acoustics in the truck. I dont know what your experience with the equipment is but make sure you set aside a penny or two for wiring and making sure that much power has a decent source.
now that that is outta the way, I'd go JL. not to be mean or anything but my experince with both is that in less that professional style installs you get better sound from JL whereas kicker is just loud obnoxious thumping/vibrating. I'm assuming at this point that it wont be a perfectly tuned instal, cuz I'm experienced and I dont even have all the know- how and tools for a perfect set up.
SQ=JL SPL=kicker

was it a kick in the chest kind of thing? or a low down rumble, because dont get confused with knocking you in the chest and the low note but rumbling
i shouldnt say this because it will change with he box but more so the size of a driver along with the type and size of the box will yeild better highs bass and low bass, a seled box cant hit the lows like a ported so ported is better for rap, but for rock and the sort a ported box usually dosent extend as far up ward as a sealed box, now my XXX 15 will beat almost any sub out on the market in low bass,( if i sit in the back seat and lean back in the cargo area on about 18/33 my eyes will start watering and ill get dizzy, buts its really cool because i can get my friends to lean back there and look at it and i will pop on a real quick 45hz tone about make them S*** theirselves ) mainly because of its xmax, simple to get low you need to move alot of air, JL W7 does this also, kicker dosent seem to do as good as others
for example a L7 has about 13mm xmax which is 1 way travel so 26mm altogether, my XXX has 32 so its 64mm altogether thats about 38mm difference, although my sub drops out at about 70hz so around 80hz its not as strong as alot of peoples but i dont listen to much rock, so im fine with that, but if i listened to rock i would say 2 10s sealed would dominate but rap, i would rather have 1 12 ported
there are many variables you can have but do you want average sq with pretty loud or a 50/50 split, with kicker i would say its a 70/30 split for loud/sq

With that being said. I'd say kicker was pretty damn good. But, there are always better brands out there. Ones like RE and Zapco that aren't really mainstream and cost about as much as Kicker and JL.

Thank you. A friend of mine, Chad Romano, is an IASCA Competitior and runs all Kicker stuff. He's won several golds in his class and even tied Corey Himel on an RTA score at Spring Break Nationals.

^Ouch
Ouch again^

kicker dosent sound bad if you set it up right, but be honest who here is going to set it up right, and in ported boxes they "usually" sound like poo to me
#1 point SQ in in the ears of the listener
but a lot of stuff i hear sounds badd to me, i love crisp stuff
