i would love to get the pioneer 6800.. yet iv heard that with the pioneers they are not full speed access and that it take forever to scroll through the ipod.. i dont use playlists, i search by artist for what i want. thats the reason im leanin towards alpine even tho im not really keen on their looks.. but for full speed ill get used to the looks

I had the hookup that places the ipod in the glovebox and you control it through the head unit... it was really slow for me. So i switched over and got some monster aux cables that plug into the head phone jack. Ten times faster using the ipod itself.

... I just recently invested on the new Microsoft Zune mp3 player and it rox, i like it more than the ipod. recommend def

I looked on their website and the new head units now from Alpine have "Full Speed Made For IPod" on them. I even got to use a girls new alpine headunit last night with the Full Speed feature and it was great. Worked very fast, almost the speed of the ipod itself.

One really cool feature is the numbers 1 - 6 along the bottom of the headunit can be used as percents. For example, when you are reading the huge list of artists, 2 will put you in the E's, 3 will put you in the I's, 4 in the O's, 5 in the S's, and 6 in the W's. This is just to give you an idea of how that works. Once you learn where each number puts you in the list, you can learn to navigate through them very quickly.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P780MP and I love it. With Pioneer the more expensive the head unit the better iPod controls. It can get to be a pain trying to scroll all the way down to that one song but the controls for this unit are the closest to the being just the way the iPod works. After playing with it for a while I can do just about anything without looking at the remote. I just set it so it plays through all of my music randomly anyway. It has loads of features and there are so many audio controls I don't even know what to do with all of them. Another cool feature is you can download a free program from Pioneer and make your own screensavers for the display. Oh yeah the sound kicks *** too. Also, you have to buy a $50 adapter to plug into the head unit. This sounds stupid but from what I've read this prevents you from having to buy a new head unit as the software on newer iPods changes. All you will have to do is buy a new $50 adapter. Although if you can load custom screensavers you'd think Pioneer could make it so you could load software updates as well. Guess you don't make billions thinking like that though do you.

Go to Crutchfield.com or Pioneer. Pioneer has a new dash unit coming out that has USB. They are not in stock yet but I think it may solve lots of problems.

See if it does what you are asking for. $269. I am thinking of getting this unit. I don't own an Ipod. I have had MP3 CD players for years now and love them.

I've got a Pioneer DEH P670MP headunit and the Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod adapter. I like this setup very much. The sound quality is excellent. It charges the iPod while it's hooked up, and you control everything from the deck. The only complaint I have is the scrolling through artists/albums or whatever can get a little tedious, but other than that, it's great.
