Hooking up 2 amps to 2 subs
Howdy folks, I'm hooking up 2 Alpine MRD-M605 amps (600RMS mono), to 2 alpine R10 (500w 1500w max) subs, and i'd like to know before i get started if an alternator for a 1997 ranger, 4.0L would be able to power about 2400+ watts of voltage through to the amps, not sure how many amps that is altogether, and whether getting a power cap would be best.
Also just a few technical questions, when i'm hooking up the 2 amps would it be best for me to hook up a power wire from the battery to each amp, gran a distribution block (running an 8 guage wire to one of the amps at the moment) or if its possible to hook just a power wire from the current MRD, to the next MRD amp.
And for grounding and the RCA's, For the RCA's would it be best to hook both up to the head unit, or can i save time by hooking up the RCA cables to the pre out output on the first MRD amp. As for grounding can i hook both up to the same grounder, or should they be seperate (grounded the first to the frame)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks for reading, i'll get a couple pictures up after my install, in a couple or so days.

2400 watts of voltage? i think you are over confusing yourself. the sub amp is rated at 500watts rmsx2 which is 1000rms. the most basic calculation is that for every 1000watts of power, 70amps are needed from the alternator. i would suggest a 1/0gauge amp kit to a distribution block.ground both to one point and run one set of rca's from the deck to one amps inputs and the other from the amps output into the second amps input.

right on thanks man, i'm putting in a stingray power cap, just a 20 dollar dist. block with 4 guage already, split into 2, 8 guage wiring, with the RCA's going from one amp to the other, its gonna be covered by a peice of wood on the cab bolted down, and the 2 alpine R10's are going to be bolted down to the wood. Unfortunately i'm losing a seat, but the sound should be wicked.
