Good thought to keep in mind.
Also, that gold or gold coating is not the best material for current flow but it is the best for corrosion, I guess that is a big consideration now that I said it.

I didn't do the original amp install, that's what the place I went to used I guess. anyway I know what it is so I guess that's what matters.

oh no your fine, I just thought i'd mention the reason for the differences.

 

I got my battery out of advance auto best one for my truck. Has 750 cold crank and some other rediculous warm crank it was the best I could get without going deep in the pocket for an optima
have niw had any daw issues sense.... EVER

 

100 watts shouldn't be dimming anything, my old setup was at 150 watts and didn't dim anything. My new setup is at 500 watts and does dim the lights, but after I installed a capacitor it helped a lot ( I need a bigger cap). Also, when you're running new wiring, solder the connectors onto the wires. I crimp, solder, and heat shrink all my connectors. Nothing is more annoying than having to do the job twice because crimping doesn't last all that long unless it is factory.

 

i did the big 3 and i dont get as much voltage drop the alt doesnt strain as much and my lights dont dim as bad should i be worrid bad

 

that tells you your wires were corroded so you fixed that part. Its just likely your pulling too much from the alternator. my lights dim too when i bast my stereo, my system runs at at least 1000w rms when I crank it up, my 140amp alternator barely keeps up at a reasonable sound level. I try not to keep the music at the point where my lights dim because it is bad for the alternator, the rectifier diodes in it heat up when there is excessive current draw and will eventually fail.

It could be other things like the battery but most likely its just you pulling to much amperage. either lessen the load like how I mentioned in a previous post or increase your power supply (alternator).
lay off of the volume when your truck is idling as the alt does not produce its rated power at that point only when your engine is at a higher rpm does the alternator produce its rated output.

 

my bat or alt might be a lil weak. my bat was only peaking at 14.50 volts, when my service manual i think said i should be over 15 but i cant remeber so dont quote me on that but i beleve when i tested it was lower then it should be. but with music playing it stayed around 14.30 and would drop to much below 13.50 but it stayed around 14.30 on good base hitting songs while at idle. i didnt hear to much strain coming from the alt after the big 3 was done, but there was still some. my battery is from 07 and my truck is a 98 so could my alt be a lil weak to? im not gonna worry but buying anything new till i need to replace but im just woundering.

 

i have the 99 ranger with two 12" subs with a 1000 watt amp and mine did the same thing. i put a capictor in it and it quit but im going through batteries every 6 to 8 months.... so i would invest in getting a red top or do what im doing..... im installing a battery isolator and putting 2 more batteries in the bed of my truck with a bigger more power full alternator.....
