Hey guys,

I'm 95% done installing an Alpine IVE-535HD head unit, but I've hit a couple of bumps. To complete the install, I need 12 volt signal from the park brake and reverse.

I can't cheat the park brake by wiring it up to the keyed 12V, as the head unit needs to see the on-off-on of the park brake to access certain features. The switch at the park brake pedal is ground signal only, but there must be a 12V source somewhere. Where?

Also, I'll eventually need 12V reverse wire to complete the reverse camera installation. Where can I find that?

 

Okay, so Alpine just gives stupid instructions. The park brake wire requires ground, not 12V as their instructions indicate. So that will work fine.

I'm happy that works.

Still need a good idea for the reverse source though!

 

For my reverse signal input on my Pioneer AVIC-D3 (yes, I know its old, but it still works great!) i just pulled my tail light off and spliced into the reverse light. Then I just ran a wire from the light up to the fire wall under the truck (securing with zip ties) and brought it through the factory gromet located under the driver's side fuse panel under the hood. Then I just pulled it through and hooked it up. it works great.
