what would i be looking to spend on a set of crossfire 12's?

It depends on which model you choose. The "entry level" Crossfire's are really nice quality subs, and start around $100 give or take for a 12" sub. You'd probably be better off with the Performance series-- probably about $150/sub. See if any local shops sell Crossfire so you can check them out first-hand.

i can get 60-80% off of all infinity and polk audio sound products via my circuit city benefits...hence i just bought 2 of the new 10.1dvq series subs for 98 dollars a peice rather than the 400 or so they are marked at. take a look at infinitys website and tell me what your wish list and ill can get you a price and stuff. although you have to pay for next day shipping and then shipping from me to you its still way cheap. my two subs was an extra 50 dollars in shipping but the box is like 50lbs..anyway take a look ill let you know what i can do.

EDIT: and i dont feel sorry for you one bit....you get to redo your stereo...
everyones **** gets jacked at one point. in other news the sky is still blue...

^ thanks for the sympathy... lol

just cuz it happens to other people, doesnt mean it doesnt suck....

we had to pay a $500 deductible, our insurance rate will rise, etc...

it is a sucky situation... all in all, they did over $4,000 in damages/theft...

You said above that you want SPL. For a G here's what I'd buy-- a pair of Crossfire BMF1224 12" drivers, and a VR1000D amp. Maybe a VR2000D if you could swing it. You'd come in under your budget, and you'd get a hell of a lot of good, clean sound. Put it all in a nice box, and you'd be set. Check them out, www.crossfirecaraudio.com

While you are looking, be sure to look at the Adire Audio Bramha and Shiva. You could get one Bramha for $500, and I guarantee you wouldn't need a second. It will give you all the SPL you could ever ask for, and SQ right along with it. A pair of Shivas will also treat you well. Any of these subs one of the Crossfire amps I mentioned will be a sick setup. www.adireaudio.com

Look at Phoenix Gold too. The Xenon amps are really nice, and they make more power than they advertise. The Xenon subs are pretty nice, but if you can find the Titanium subs, get those. The Titanium stuff isn't made anymore, but it is still top-of-the-line, it won't dissappoint. All PG gear (except for the Octane) is made 100% in the USA (Oregon) too, if that matters to you. The new Alpine amps are supposed to be great, but I haven't had a chance to check them out yet. JL Audio is nice, but way overpriced. Kicker subs are nice, don't know much about their amps. I think any of the subs I listed are nicer than Kicker personally, but it's your choice. Zapco has a new line of amps out that are within your budget, they make the best of the best amps with their Comptition (C2K) series so I'm sure the new ones will perform. You might look at Eclipse again too, just a thought...

When I grow up I'm getting a 12" Bramha and a Zapco C2K-6.0x.

Resonant engineering owns, i have a 15 XXX now running 2300rms to it daily, before i had a resonant engineering SX, RE is crazy, i would suggest a XXX over a brahma, because they handle more power and look better and a couple things, but a XXX 15 is 435$ from factory, they retail like 600 or so in stores, a 12 is 405$, and a 10 is like 375$, a 12 Brahma iis like 375$, but Adire is getting a little slow latley and brahmas are on backorder
some other companies to check out
www.soundsplinter.com
www.ascendantaudio.com
www.stereointegrity.com
www.adireaudio.com
www.reaudio.com
www.incriminatoraudio.com
there are plenty of different subs to use but these are the non mainstream brands that
have great products for really cheap, i know most of the prices of all those subs from those companies

go to www.realmofexcursion.com , you can tell how many people use RE and how crazy they are, scroll down the list to look at RE audio and adire and the others, RE has the most viseos on that site, another site is woofervids.com but relmofexcursion is better
but my XXX is about the Same as a brahma, except it gets louder and sounds just as good

as for the MT, they dont give specs because you can order it many different ways with
dual voice coild quad coild 1-5 spiders and many different variables, and they are only made to do one thing and that is a little 2 second blast, they are not made for daily listening, but can do it, but i would just get 2 SX's because they would be loud as **** and sound decent
sorry for the long post, any more questions just ask

I agree with you 100% RE is the SHIZ. The XXX will put just about any sub to shame when it comes to SPL as long as you have a box that is built CORRECTLY. The box will make or break you....don't go by the specs that come with the sub....call RE and ask them about vehicle specific specs.

Yea they reccommend a 4cu ft box tuned to 28hz i think, but i went with a 4.5 cu ft tuned to 32hz(actually a 5.7 before port displacement) but its big as you can tell in my avatar or sound domain page, i cant sit in there in when the volume is on 28-30/40 its crazy, like you said it will put about any sub to shame in SPL, it also has some of the best sq in the world due to xbl^2, which is the same technology the Brahma uses(basically a dual gap motor if this means anything to any of yall that know stuff about subs) the XXX was made to excell in everything get loud and sound good, but i love the way my setup sounds, the XXX for bass and Rainbow Components up front(Rainbow is hand made in germany, they make some speakers for Arc audio, similar to focal and other high end compainies) and my Premier 860 has awsome processing and eq on it, i love my system :D

Well, I had L7's in my car before I got my truck. As far as how loud, I took them out and sold them to a friend because I wanted to have my hearing in a few years. Doc told me I had about 8-9 percent loss in my right ear and 1-2 percent in my left and that was only after a few months. But, I will say, if you want LOUD, get them.

for 1000$ get an XXX 12 or 15, a good cheap amp that does at least 1200+ at 1ohm and you would have prolly the best sounding system in your area

today, i heard a 15" kicker l7 solo-baric, and it sounded awesome..

it was powered by an 1100 watt memphis amp, and sounded as good or better than my 15" eclipse...

what are ya'lls thoughts on this sub?

anyone get me a deal on kicker?

it was blue, black, and grey...

was it the new one or old one, the new one has shiny cone, the old one is dull grey, which is the one i think u saw, they are very nice spl subs, but they suck at sound sound quality, and the ones i've heard dont didnt hit the lows good, if you think that sounds good, i would suggest you try out an Resonant engineering SX, would be an L7 in spl and sound a good bit better doing it, L7 holds 750rms SX hld 1000, but i ran mine on 1200 on mine no problems, they can hold 1400 daily if u know what your doing, but for just getting loud an L7 would be nice, ebay has them for 200+shipping or so maybe more or less if u get a refurb, an SX is 250$ direct from RE www.reaudio.com and it comes with a true warranty not some ebay warranty
