2nd battery location

so the radio gods have advised me to ditch the battery cap idea and just go with a second battery, yea they could build it into the box or put it on the floor but i want to keep the box at the bottom of my window,as everyone knows theres no room under the hood for #2 and its to open in the bed

my idea is taking out one of the seats thats in the rear and putting it in there and do some kind of mount to secure it, now i havnt had time to sit down and look at it since i dont have my truck but anyone have any input or ideas?????

do you have a toolbox in the bed of your truck? if you do, that would be a good idea....keep the battery out of the inside of your truck...

you do not want a battery in the cab of your truck under any circumstances. If you were to get into a wreck it would become a flying object and cause even more damage. Put the battery in a sealed box in the bed and call it a day

oh i forgot to add once the battery was in the hole where the seat use to be and it will be in some sort of support there will be a huge **** speaker box that will have to come out before that batter will make it out of its little cubby hole

box example:from side to side maybe 3-5" each side free and from bottom of the window to the floor and from the back wall to the seat pushed all the way back

yea you still don't want a big battery in your cab. period. even if in a "custom speaker box". Why the 2nd anyway......especially on a ranger???

200amp alternator,yellow top deep cycle/starting optima

and it was "suggested" i get a 2nd one rather then a new battery cap, so if the need for a 2nd battery ill know what route to take and it seems that its gonna be a hassle

ill be running a tc8001 and another 4-channel amp (not bought yet) so just planning ahead of time

one thing i havnt done but i do have the wire for is upgrade the ground wire for the battery

im starting with a clean slate so just tryin to get the ducks in a row to make for a better install and better sounding audio

Use a closed battery box in the bed. They make them for marine applications and racing. You can get them at Summit Racing.

I have a homemade box (from another equipment box) and it's in my toolbox -- but a purchased one can be in the open.

I agree: you don't want the hydrogen and oxygen from charging venting into your closed cab under any circumstances.

My other battery is to help supply my winch, and I use a red-top Optima in conjunction with it and have disconnects and all lines fused.

i say check into kinetic batterys you can probly get a bigger one and fingagle it in or you can get a blue top and have a metal bracket made up and mount it under the bed like one whould do with an air tank. or you can do the same and cut a spot out in the bed and drop it in.
