V-8 Swap Homework - HELP
So i have been reading up on some swaps for my 2003 Ranger.
Can i use the 4.6 L V-8 used in an 03 Ford Explorer?
If so its shown with a manual tranny option??

This is where my information is coming from on this.
My questions:
What engine?
What transmission?
What year Donor?
Can i use 5.0 or should i stay 4.6??

the 4.6 is a 90º V? and the 5.0 is less, than that there for the engine is narrower..
you CAN fit a 4.6 in there, hell the 6.0 PSD fits.. but you're going to have to do a lot more fabbing.. the 5.0 is more of a drop in and swap some wiring and plumb is.. (of course its not that easy, but it wont requite cutting and welding major stuff)

I am thinking power and offroading.
Has anyone ever turbo'ed a 4.0L?? Alot of custom exhaust fabbing??

Hmm I think you are correct.. i had just read the motor had to come out of a similiar year vehicle..
Do they even make the 5.0L EFI anymore??

YES you are correct BL is not for me.. and neither is an excessive lift.
I want a modest lift that still rides smooth doesnt kill MPG and will allow 33's and some nice movement off-road.. I like the RCD-skyjacker-superlift hybrid hahah.

A truck wont turn or stop as well as a car. Sure you can spend a crap load of cash but in the end it wont be as good. Also it's not worth trying to get the truck to pass emissions. I'd swap a V8 if I lived in another state but not here. Also I'm not sure what Utah's emissions laws are like.

Lucky for utah... we have emission-less counties..
How would it be hard to pass emissions?? it would put out same emissions as if it were in an explorer would it not???
most say 5.0 is straight swap.. except minor things here and there.. and uhh im not sure on the tranny part yet.. i am hoping in spring to get another car.. then m y truck will be my toy.
