Hi guy, my guess is ur swap will be fairly close to mine with pats being in urs not mine. my 98 ranger 4x4 has a 5.0 from a 97 mountaineer. no pats, return fuel rail. I probable had to move about 8 to 10 wires. I used the awd transfer case but I have man hubs so I don't have awd all the time. however I don't have a true parking gear, cant remember why either, I read its something with differentials. I kept the ranger diffs in her so I have the lil diffs but I don't drive it daily. I live in Allegheny county in pa so we have emission laws and she wont pass even if I get the cel to stay off. the only code left is for both banks running rich. I just noticed u didn't say what year explorer but your ranger has pats. if you get one with return fuel u can change to non return rail if you want. I might have close to $4000 in my swap to date....good luck and enjoy the added power

2004 Rangers and up are not great swap platforms

2004 was the first year of the Digital Dash and Smart Junction box(SJB)(replaced GEM).

So wiring in not well documented when changing the computer, which is required when changing engine size.

You should be OK since SJB and dash wiring will not be changed.

There will be speedometer issues so shift issues, the year of the 5.0l computer will decide how to deal with speedometer and computer interface for that
