two questions doing 4.0sohc timing

There is no need to remove the cam. Removing the rockers (or whatever they are called) appears to be an option. I think you might get more precise timing with the rockers removed but I did it without removing them and had no problem. Three bolt are supposed to be replaced, the bolts on each end of the jackshaft and the crankshaft/damper bolt. They are torque to yield bolts. You might be able to get by with not replacing them but I did not want to take the risk. I don't know of any torque values for reusing them.

ya my bad lifters are the pushrod component that goes between the cam and rod..
really good to hear it can be done just on one side successfully.
i don't think i can get away with doing the job without removing the valve cover on the other side though because i'll need to lock in the timing at the very least when i snug the main sprocket back up and ensure everything is zero.
hopefully 5lbs over spec with some blue locktight will be enough for the torque to yield bolts to hold everything together another 10 or 20 thousand clicks.
i'll check back in on my main thread in this subforum with results of the job.. doing one side means you really have to understand the timing procedure you cant follow blindly step by step instructions.
thanks again take care.
