Trying to find the cheapest way to fix my 4.0

Hey everyone im not on here much, only when i need help with something. So a couple weeks ago my cousin put my ranger in a ditch on a dirt road. Thats not that big of deal cuz its happened before, but the idiot tried to start it while the nose was in water. Sucked up water and ended up bending two rods. We have completely dissected my engine and because im a cheap 17 yr old kid in stead of getting everything to fix it im just gonna buy a new engine. Does any one know which years motors will fit in a 2002 ranger?

Must be 01+ for sure. It will have to be a 4.0 SOHC for sure.

Yea 01+ is compatible. That would be cheaper on your part and much easier.

Might as well put a 5.0 in it if you're gonna go through all that trouble.

That doesn't make sense does it? get a Manual, buy the parts you need and you will save plenty of time and Money...I have a Push Rod 4.0 so a bent Rod would be a Piece of Cake..

Good Luck!
