Trouble code P1151

Last night my CEL came on, I pulled the code and it is P1151? Where should I start with this trouble code p1151? I still yet have to perform the compression check and cylinder leak down test., but figured dealing with the CEL is priority. Please help. Any advice or leads about the trouble code p1151 is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What year Ranger?
And what does code P1151 mean?

Do you have all the codes memorized, I don't, lol

P1151 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 2(drivers side)

O2 sensors last 100k miles or 12 years, which ever comes first, how old are your O2 sensors?
When an O2 sensor gets too OLD it causes lean codes

And the lack of a Bank 1 Lean code would indicate its not a general vacuum leak because that would effect BOTH sides of a "V" engine
Could be a lower intake vacuum leak, rare but can happen
Could be exhaust manifold leak on Bank 2, sucks in air so "false" O2 lean

And yes, could be misfires on bank 2 causing it, spark, fuel or compression
Do you "feel" the engine misfiring while driving?

But if O2s have more than 100k miles OR are over 12 years old, then I would change the 2 upstream O2s just because, ITS TIME, and then see if code returns

My Ranger is a 1997 with about 139000 miles on it... I was really uncertain what code p1151 meant. That is why I hopped on the forum.

I was told that cylinder 4 has low compression via a relative compression check or balance compression check with a scan tool. Now, I have not performed a compression check or a cylinder leak down to confirm furthermore what is occurring on bank 2...

1997 will be a 4.0l OHV V6 engine

Pull #4 spark plug and have a look at the tip
Pull #5 as well and compare them

I assume you "feel" a misfire?

A misfire on #4(bank 2) can certainly cause P1151 because misfires dump unburned oxygen into exhaust manifold and O2 sees that as Lean

If you do a compression test then pull out all 6 spark plugs first and then test each cylinder, write down results
Compression test is about the average compression compared to lowest cylinder, not an actual specific number
So don't use highest or lowest numbers, add up the 4 cylinders in the middle and divide that number by 4, and thats the average
If a cylinder is 10-15% lower then it can misfire
