Ok then it's in the relay or starter. did you see the wiring diagram ? im guessing relay because its giving power to the starter.. ck the wiring on the relay with the diagram. could the relay be upside down? can't tell from the pic. but there is a small post in the center bottom of the relay.

In your very first post on this thread,

You say the starter turns off when you disconnect the small wire

Later on you say that it does not turn off the starter

Sorry found the wiring diagram Also to answer the question yes there is a small post labeled with a I on the bottom and the red cap wire is going to the small post with the S

Okay maybe I'm getting mad confused and missing things. When I disconnect the red cap wire the starter keeps running but when I remove the wire on the big post on the right side it turns off the starter

Did it do this with the old relay, and is that why you replaced it?

if the wire to the red cap is hot. 12v with key on run not start I'd think its in the ignition switch. are you sure the wiring on the starter is right?

The only thing I can think of now is that bigger red wire you have going to the battery is to small and causing the relay/solenoid to heat up and stick.

ad another red wire of that same size, or temporarily use a jumper cable from the battery + to that post and see if that changes anything.

thats a good idea. remove the red cap wire. make a jumper wire and run it from the + side of the battery to the terminal where the red cap was on. the starter should turn. when you remove it it should stop .

Make another wire just like it and run it right beside it, use both.

Or temporarily use a jumper cable, one end on the battery + and one end on that post, leaving the wire that's already there.

There are 2 larger posts
One is wired to starter motor below, just has that one wire, wire is attached and tight out of the box(M post)
Other larger post is for your battery positive wire(B post)
The smaller post is your activation wire, it gets 12volts to activate starter relay/solenoid when key is turned to START(S post)
When activated the relay/solenoid connects the 2 larger post together giving starter motor 12volts to start spinning, it also moves the starter gear out to engage the flywheel/flexplate

If battery positive wire was put on the same post as starter motor wire OR is touching the other larger post OR the "S" post, then................starter would come on when battery was hook up again

this is from Ron D

Doing this online makes it more difficult, not being able to see the whole setup and follow each wire.

I don't think the solenoid/relay is bad, because it did this with the first one.

I really think there is a wire hooked up to something that it shouldn't be.
