Spark plug replace method - 1999 Mazda B4000
Access to the three plugs on the passenger side is very limited from above. The A/C evaporator and other components really interfere. I have seen comments on you-tube suggesting the easiest/best way to get access is to work in from the wheel well by removing the front fender liner. Does anyone have any comments or experience with this method? Or, is there another way that it could be done?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I do my 1994 4.0l OHV from above, it also has AC, #1 and #2 are not an issue
The rear one, #3, is tight, have to put the socket on spark plug first and then the wrench, loosen it a bit then remove the wrench and unscrew socket by hand
You could take the inner fender out to see it better but the AC/Heater housing is the issue, very close, nothing you can do about that

Hello Ron, thanks for your reply.
I am wondering if your under-hood layout is exactly like mine?
In any case, for plugs #1 and #2, and after looking more closely, perhaps dropping the coolant level in the radiator and moving the upper radiator hose out of the way would help. Also, disconnecting the heater hose that connects to the thermostat housing would make more room to be able to operate a wrench; not sure if dropping the coolant level in the rad would drain the heater hose too?

1994 doesn't have the 4 hose heater by-pass but that's the only difference, still has the heater hoses in the way, but extension and universal socket makes it do able
Yes, draining coolant drains the heater hoses as well
Leave the heater hoses off when refilling, this lets the air out of the engine side of thermostat, when coolant starts to come out the hoses put them back on
You should remove 1 heater hose at the firewall anytime you are refilling the system to let the air out
Also reverse heater hoses at the firewall every 2 years or anytime you need to remove one or both, this back flushes the heater core while driving so it will last longer
